The body is honed unfilled travertine in a warm cream-yellow, cut as a single vertical block. The surface carries small shallow pores in loose horizontal bands, the record of mineral springs the stone formed in, and no two blocks pit the same way. Honing leaves the faces smooth but matte, so the stone absorbs light rather than reflecting it.
